Confirmation in our parish is celebrated in eighth grade. The sacrament of Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which roots us more firmly into Christ, strengthens our bond with the Church, associates us more closely with her mission, and helps us bear witness to the Christian faith in words and deeds. (CCC #1316)
The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated each year in the spring, mostly in the month of March by the Bishop of Wilmington. Our parish holds a Confirmation Preparation Program for students in the eighth grade and under the age of 18 regardless of the school they are attending.
The Confirmation Preparation Program, is a required program for all 8th graders preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation, in addition to your other Religious Education Program, namely CRE or Catholic School. The fee for Confirmation Preparation is $85 per candidate. The sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at IHM on Saturday March 10, 2018. The complete schedule can be found on the link below.

Your sponsor is an important witness and partner for you. A sponsor must be a fully initiated Catholic, this means they have received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. They should be a registered, active member of a Catholic Church. Your sponsor will need to complete the Sponsor Certification Form. If they are NOT an IHM Parishioner, they just need to have the parish office where they are registered, complete the bottom portion of the form and return to IHM by November 11, the Sponsor Gathering.
Confirmation Name Forms
The candidate may choose a Confirmation name; a name that gives witness to his or her expression of faith. Your baptismal name may be used for Confirmation because it highlights the unity of Baptism and Confirmation. At our first gathering we will spend time reviewing the key areas to consider in choosing a Confirmation name. The form should be returned to IHM by November 12, the Second Gathering.
